We are ready for winter break! This week, we are going to continue working on our author study and our informational geography piece. In math, we will begin fractions. We have finished life science and will start weather when we return in January. We are working on culture and December holidays with a surprise for parents. The sing-a-long is Friday at 1:30 and the party is at 2:30. If you want to help with the party, please contact Mrs. Whalen at [email protected].
There is a short holiday packet of homework - reading log, word problems, and grammar work. This packet is due Thursday. The students are all getting faster at their basic facts, so please keep practicing over the break.
The grading period will end on January 14 and report cards will go home on Jan. 24. Also, we have taken district tests (proficiency assessments) that are going home this week - your child's score is marked as distinguished, proficient, apprentice or novice. All students should be proficient or distinguished. All of the concepts on these tests have been taught for the last 6 weeks or more, but we will revisit them, especially with students who struggled with them.
I hope your families have a great vacation and relax. Hopefully the snow will come then so they can play without more snow days!! Have a wonderful break!
